The College of Veterinary Medicine was established in the city of Idlib in 2010 and it was affiliated with the University of Aleppo – the Idlib branch previously, and then the college was reopened after the opening of the University of Idlib in 2015.

Vision of the college

• Meet the needs of the local and regional labor market of veterinarians.
• Carrying out veterinary medical scientific research.
• Contribute to the development of livestock.
• Contribute to providing food with a healthy animal source.
• Maintaining food security.
• Maintaining public health and environmental health, by limiting the spread of common diseases.

 College Mission

• Establishing a veterinary hospital to serve the local community, capable of receiving, diagnosing and treating different cases.
• Establish a unit for the transfer and transplantation of embryos, histological transplantation, and the selection of breeds.
• Establish specialized laboratories for pharmacological studies and analysis of veterinary medicines.
• Establish a monitoring unit specialized in examining food products of animal origin to ensure their nutritional value and safety.
• Establish a research laboratory for molecular biology and molecular diagnostics.

College goals and aspirations

• Preparing and graduating scientifically qualified and well-trained veterinarians in various fields of veterinary medicine, to meet the needs of the local market.
• To carry out veterinary medical scientific research in the postgraduate studies stage, and to participate in various scientific studies in a manner that keeps pace with the modern scientific renaissance in all fields of veterinary medicine.
• Development of methods and methods of scientific research, education and teaching assets in the field of veterinary medical sciences using modern techniques, including the development of university educational literature and translation the modern from them.
• Organizing training courses for veterinarians in Idlib through continuing education programs.
• Diagnosing and treating animal diseases, and finding ways to reduce epidemic disasters.
• Developing programs and solutions to get rid of the problems facing animal husbandry and nutrition, and contribute to the economic development in the region.
• Contribute to developing programs to increase animal production, preserve the environment and reduce the spread of common diseases.
• Achieving the highest integration between the various departments of the college and society, including institutions and organizations whose tasks and goals are consistent with the tasks and goals of the college.
• Encourage students’ cultural, social and sports activities, and develop the student’s scientific personality.

The most important activities and scientific trips undertaken by the college:

• Participation of second and third year students in vaccination campaigns against brucellosis and FMD in cooperation with Shafaq Organization.
• The students of the second and third years make scientific visits to poultry farms and hatcheries in the Benish region.
• The second and third year students make scientific visits to a cattle station in Armnaz.
• Students participating in a blood collection campaign to investigate the PPR disease in the Idlib area.
