The importance of studying history comes after the Qur’an and the Sunnah. but the nation largely neglected it, unfortunately, but if we look at the West: Those who graduate from Oxford University and its equivalent from major universities with this specialization: He has the power to make political decisions and propose them in the interest of his nation. As for us, unfortunately A: Many still see it as useless … and do not realize that building any state and nation requires a deep study of history … We need to emulate those who succeeded, reformed, and participated in building before us.

 Who among us knows today, for example, the biography of Caliph Umar bin Al-Khattab, may God be pleased with him, regarding the politics of his state and not just his policy and justice?  (He was chosen as Person No. 51 in the Book of the Hundred Greats of Michael Hart because of the organization and administration distinguished by his rule !!) How many of us have heard or read about Alp Arslan, Ibn Tashfin, or Abdul Rahman Al-Nasser, and how they established their countries?

So … with our study of history, we know how states are built, and how they are retreating and weakening or disappearing. He who reads history will not live in a state of confusion about the present. and will not be afraid of the future. at that time, he can look at history and compare it with the present in order to work for the future.

 An overview of the study of the Department of History at the University of IdlIb:

The Department of History is one of the departments of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the University of IdlIb, and it was opened in 2015 with the opening of the university, and the duration of study in it is four years, after which the student gets a Bachelor’s degree in history.  The department teaches the historical courses specified in the internal regulations of the department, through which the following objectives are achieved:

1. Contribute to the progress of historical knowledge.
2. Develop awareness of the historical Arab thought.
3. Development of methods and methods of historical scientific research.
4. Contribute to highlighting the status of the Arab civilization that arose in the history of the Arab nation, and its role in human civilization progress.
5. Preparing researchers and specialists in aspects of historical sciences.
6. Development of methods of teaching history.
7. Highlight the distinguished historical role of the blessed Levant.
8. Contributing to the national cultural activity from the historical point of view.
9. Developing the bonds of cooperation between the history departments of Arab and foreign universities.
10. Participation in Arab and international conferences and seminars to develop historical awareness in society.  The method of study depends on the historical sequence of events from prehistory in the first year, to the contemporary history in which we live in the fourth year.

• The first year (15 courses) is concerned with studying prehistoric times and the history of ancient civilizations such as the civilizations of Syria, Iraq and Egypt, in addition to studying materials related to oriental and classical antiquities, and the student learns in it one of the ancient languages ​​such as Aramaic, for example.  The most prominent of this year is. Dr. Anas Hajj Zaidan and Prof.  Mamoun Al-Khatib.
• The second year (14 courses) and its materials vary from the last courses of the study of ancient history, such as the ancient history of the Arabian Peninsula, to the first courses of the study of the Middle Ages.  One of the two languages ​​is Persian or Ottoman.  The most prominent of this year is d.  Abdullah Hajj Abdullah and Dr.  Bilal Al-Hajj Ali and A.  Ahmed Hamish.
